Graduated from the High School of Art Saint-Luc in Brussels, I worked several years as an independent architect, interior-designer and set-designer before passing the entrance exams for INSAS (film school in Brussels). After two years in the directing program, I followed a one-year master program in creative documentary and visual anthropology.
2007, I made my first documentary film Our Wedding. In this film, I explored the theme of traditional marriage in Turkish immigration. This was a first step towards the pursuit of my identity.
Beyond the Ararat is a continuation of this first work. The quest takes me away from the family circle in Brussels to Anatolia, the land of my origins.
October 2011, the documentary Clivovich vs Kebabtje was part of a film-photo installation project. It took place in the Balkans, Serbia, Bosnia Herzegovina and Bulgaria. The topic was: what separates people and what in the same time connects them? Borders are not necessarily where we see them. The film was showed in several places in Flanders for the Balkan Film Festival.
December 2011 under an exhibition Women and City of the Foundation of Architecture in Brussels, I made a documentary, Rendez-vous sur le quai. The theme was women and the city.
In documentary, my desire is to explore themes such as identity, personal and physical boundaries and memory.
